Govt Approves Jindal’s ₹3,600 Cr Odisha Steel Project

Jindal (India) gets Odisha govt nod for a Rs 3,600 crore steel project, boosting domestic manufacturing & creating jobs. The plant will produce special coated steel products with a capacity of 9.6 lakh MT annually.

Key Highlights:

  1. Approval Received:
    Jindal (India) Ltd has received approval from the Odisha government’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA).

  2. Investment Plan:
    ₹3,600 crore will be invested in the first phase of a greenfield steel project in Odisha.

  3. Total Investment:
    The company plans to invest a total of ₹15,000 crore in Odisha by 2030, in three phases.

  4. What Will Be Manufactured:

    • Special coated steel products

    • Cold Rolling Mill (CRM)

    • Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL)

    • Colour Coating Line (CCL)

    • Capacity: 9.6 lakh MT/year in Phase 1

  5. Commissioning Timeline:

    • Phase 1 to be ready by 2027

    • Entire plant capacity to reach 30 lakh MT/year by 2030

  6. Subsidiary Expansion:
    Work will also be done by Jindal’s subsidiary JISTL to increase flat product capacity.

  7. New Pipe Facility:

    • A steel pipe plant will also be set up

    • Estimated capacity: 2 lakh MT/year
